All that glitters is gold.

We've been extremely MIA lately....Chaos including moving back to the bay after graduation (post-grad life..eek!), and Connie still at school we just have not made the time to blog. However, this all changes now! I've bought a brand new camera and have been experimenting with it, thus the impromptu lipstick photo shoot. (please excuse my amateur photos)

Today while rummaging through my house I found my grandmother's Vintage Revlon 574 lipstick tube and instantly fell in love with it. They just don't make things the way they used to (pictured  above left modern day Revlon 405 lipstick, right vintage Revlon 574). After doing a bit of google-ing I believe the lipstick tube is dated from the 1940's.

Comparison shots: Some of my lipstick collection showcase the brilliance of the vintage Revlon case.
(pictured above from right to left: Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Perle, Sephora Rouge R14, Vintage Revlon 574- I believe this was originally a cherry red, and Revlon 405)

The elegance & sophistication of something as simple as a lipstick tube by Revlon truly shows the quality of work that was put into each and every item in the past.
Who knows what else may show up in my house, a vintage scarf or handbag? Something maybe to incorporate to new OOTD's? I love vintage clothes and accessories that has been passed down, not only does it connect me more to my grandmothers and remind me of them every day but it transports me to an entirely different era.

OOTD

This is our first ever outfit of the day post and we realized it's a lot harder to do than it seems! We had an urge to work with Reneryan's closet and see what we could do with it. Here's what I came up with:

I decided to work a floral dress with a slouchy cardigan with a cute pair of black oxford wedges. As for accessories, I used a toned down salmon pink circle scarf along with a bunch of gold toned bangles. Since the weather still says winter, I didn't want to go all out by using spring clothes which is why I incorporated the chunky cardigan into the outfit. Even if spring/summer clothes aren't suitable for winter weather, nothing says we can't wear our favorite dresses or skirts! Layering properly is KEY, however. You can look pretty but you don't want to look like you're freezing your butt off while everyone looks snug and warm! You could also pair this dress up with some thin nylon tights. I wouldn't go with opaque tights just because they can overpower the dress and make your legs look unflattering. It all depends on your sense of style but don't be afraid to explore your options! Your wardrobe may seem boring to you but you never know what outfits you can come up with. Happy blogging! :)

I SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM

Lovely colors. I personally love the tips to those collars. It's not a common look but it sure is something that is in the works and rising. Mint green will always be "in" just because it's a nice, soft-toned color that screams spring and summer. I admit not everyone can pull off the color (depending on their skin tone) but mint green is a color you can incorporate into your outfit, whether it be through accessories or through a splash of color on a simple top. These colors just remind me of mint ice cream and sherbet! Yum. Happy blogging. :)

Masculinity: Point Rivet Flats

masculine chic.

Point Rivet Flats. These are completely sold out online in black! Have no fear, the equally cute leopard print version of this shoe is available :)
Shoes

These are definitely not your average flats. The rivets give them a punk & edgy style, while the shape are more similar to that of men's loafers versus the common ballet flat.

Masculinity. I have always had a fetish for outfits that had that masculine touch to them. I mean I am all for being feminine and wearing soft-toned colors but something about wearing a pair of Doc Martens with a nice pair of jeans and almost having that rugged look is absolutely sexy. This applies to men as well. Maybe I just have a thing for Doc Martens? I have been wanting to get a pair, myself. I was excited when Threadsence came out with their line, No Boys Allowed. This particular line consists of boyish clothes, playfully proving that girls are able to pull off masculinity as much as men can. I guess it depends on the individual and where their sense of fashion lies. If I get all "dolled up" or decide to dress preppy one day, I have a tendency to wear semi-lazy clothes the next day OR I switch it up and wear more masculine pieces. It all depends on my mood or how I am feeling that day. Hehe.

Coffee + Food + Fashion

"Fashion fades, only style remains the same."

Coco Chanel

Fashion fades but style is permanent. Bell bottoms and flare jeans have been out of season but a lot of fashion shows and companies still incorporate them by working them in different ways to fit modern styles. The term "fashion" is only what each individual makes of it. Someone could put complete, random pieces together and pull off an outfit and that in itself, is fashion. Spring season is just around the corner and I can't wait to see what is in this time around. Needless to say, color-blocking and crochet pieces are sure to be in this season. Dresses and rompers have always been in demand but peplums seem to be taking the spotlight. The 70s glam will definitely be back. The key color this spring seems to be orange alongside mint green. A pop of any bold color, for that matter, will be able to accentuate an outfit so much more. As for shoes, gladiators shot up in terms of popularity and it looks like they're going to get even bigger during the summertime. Personally, I'm ready to be done with winter weather. There is always a beauty to layering and looking for that perfect pea or trench coat but I miss leaving the house without a jacket and wearing flowy tops and shorts. Clothes are like an extension of ourselves, so we should always try to make that effort to look decent or acceptable. I admit I have had a bunch of lazy days but spring weather would kind of be like a fresh new start with a better wardrobe! My closet has always screamed summertime more than winter anyway. :P

Polyvore set I

artist inspiration: Georgia O'Keeffe

I've pretty much been in love with Georgia O'Keeffe paintings since I was eight. In elementary school my teacher had us research an artist, read their biography, and attempt to re-create one of their pieces. I chose O'Keeffe & naturally I fell in love with her abstract, bold, beautiful interpretation of flowers, the desert and skulls.
