Cat eyed.

I've been looking for the perfect striped sweater and a good pair of relaxed /boyfriend/slouch   fit jeans. The cut and style of these Madewell jeans are perfect! I channeled  bits of "An Education" on this outfit with the sunglasses and vintage Chanel.  Cat eyed glasses are so cute and can give any outfit a feminine retro 1950's-1960's flare. As much as I love the outfit as a whole, the vintage Chanel earrings steal the show. They're gorgeous!

Back in Black

Marni long top / Ted Baker velvet blazer / Yves Saint Laurent leather heels / Alexander McQueen skull handbag, $1,390 / Kate Spade bangle watch / Digby iona / Kate Spade bracelets bangle / LORAC / Yves Saint Laurent yves saint laurent / Kat Von D / Butter London nail lacquer

No matter what season Summer, Spring,Winter, Fall, I'll find a way to wear black clothing & accessories. I'll be that girl the one who wears a black t-shirt in 90 degree weather (and everyone thinks your crazy...) I can't help to keep this color out of my wardobe! Black symbolizes power. It is always classic, beautiful, edgy, and bold. Everything a girl- a woman, ought to be.

Maybe it's my love for Rock N' Roll (ACDC, Queen, Nirvana, Avenged Sevenfold, Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard, The Ramones, Jimi Hendrix) that still shines through my now less rebellious wardrobe?

Today's set:
Kate Spade, YSL, Chanel, Ted Baker and Alexander McQueen to feed a fashionista's appetite along with my favorite makeup products as of recently:

  • LORAC trio eyeshadow
    • highly pigmented,
    • nice sparkle for nights out
  • Kat Von D liquid eyeliner
    • perfect width - doesn't apply too thick of a line
    •  applies smoothly, stays on all day
  • Yves Saint Laurent Lipstick
    • super pigmented, creamy application
  • Black butter nailpolish

happy blogging!

Dark shades, bright nights.

It seems that everyone is ready for an early spring this year It's been freezinggg (yes, even in California) I know I know, I shouldn't be complaining. It's not even close to what the East Coast has been experiencing...hopefully everyone is staying safe & warm wherever they are.

Lately I've been craving sunny days and warm breezes (& maybe a margarita or two...) As much as I love fall & winter with all the sweaters and layering i'm feeling a bit weighed down by having to constantly carry a heavy jacket around. Essentially: Icona Pop Lyrics + Spring fever = sunglasses post.

Color Me Mine~

Woops, I lied. Skincare will have to wait because I've been hooked on nail polishes (AGAIN!) most recently. I wish I could own the whole Essie line. Even so, I think I'd look for more nail colors. Something is definitely wrong with me. I won't blabber about the quality because it's a given that these polishes are chip-resistant! Some might claim Essie and OPI are pricey but you really get what you pay for! I promise you that. The reason? The color you see in the bottle is the exact color you'll get on your nails. I'm not saying other nail polishes fail to deliver but I know we all have experienced some color failure because it didn't come out the way it should have! I know how people might feel about the price though because I kind of feel the same way about Chanel's polishes. I have yet to own one and am itching to compare the two. Anyway, I've fallen in love with grey/lavender toned polishes and I seemed to have left a pretty grey polish, up north in a box I left behind. I didn't like any of the colors I had so went ahead and bought Angora Cardi by Essie as a temp. I didn't think much of the color but I realized how gorgeous it is and find it so suitable for the cold weather. The color just screams fall and autumn! I would describe the color as deep plum-like, deep rosey, burgundy...you get the idea! It reminds me of leaves, as odd as that might sound. :P

As for being hooked on polishes...I just picked up Cocktail Bling by Essie today. I originally wanted to purchase Merino Cool (mulberry-like) but they were out of stock, sadly. While I was walking away to purchase Cocktail Bling, I fell in love with a color called Pink Glove Service by Essie which is an adorable color that looks and applies a bit watery with the perfect touch of pink. :) I refrained myself from buying it because I told myself I'd come back for the Merino Cool and get the pink one then as well. I've also just discovered 2 more colors I'd really love to bring home. Haha! Horrible, isn't it? Again, it might be pricey but I think it's worth it. :) A lot of brands undoubtedly come out with really cute colors but sometimes they just don't hit the spot...which means you've already spent some money buying a bottle or two when you could have potentially been satisfied with the purchase of just one by a brand like Essie or OPI. I feel like I'm advertising here but just sharing my love for the brand! Hehe. I'll be back to review more polishes and brands so stay tuned. :)

Similar brands to Essie/OPI (naming off the top of head): Zoya, China Glaze, Butter, Nicole by OPI, Nails Inc. I've only tried 2 out of the 4 here so can't really review much but will definitely try out and review different brands as I go! :) Lyss has an addiction with nail polish too, I'm sure so you'll surely hear reviews from her as well!

Sweater Weather

It's been super chilly outside, so having a chunky knit sweater is a definite must have. Free People's destroyed baggies inspired the match up between these knits with classic and always gorgeous Saint Laurent heels and Zara's asymmetrical court shoe .

Ringing in 2013!

Oh my goodness. Hii to all and happy 2013!! It's been such a long time since I last posted! I'm finally back home after school as Lyss mentioned so I have some more time on my hands. We are trying to meet as it is difficult since I reside in L.A. and she resides in the bay! As soon as we meet, however, we're going to flood our site with cute outfit of the days and try to mix/match different items that may be suitable for all types of weather! :) I dug up a Polyvore set I made a little while ago but never got to post on this blog. I am still a sucker for flowy tops (believe it's an essential) during the winter so pairing a sheer top with a nice, thick coat did it for me. Another GREAT essential in this set is the watch. I've been dying to buy a nice watch that will qualify for any type of day, event or setting. Still on the hunt! Lyss knows how much I've been contemplating watches, hehe. :) The last thing I want to point out is that black, lacey bra you see up there. It might be a bold statement (personal) for some but they say a woman should always wear nice undergarments even if without a reason because they can make a lady feel that much more confident. :) I, myself, am a sucker for cute lingerie. I think I'm going to end up having my own lingerie collection at this rate just to admire and stare at, hahah. I will leave this as is for now and will be back to post more often. Next up should be skincare as I find my skin to be drier currently (shocker) in L.A. than up north! Norcal may have stuck with me more than I could have ever imagined. ;) Stay tuned! :)

Winter treats

Yes, I know I should have posted this last month but...better late than never?

Here's a recap of Holiday treats I made the last couple weeks of December.

These cream puffs come out crunchy, thin and golden. Simply topped off with homemade whipped cream and powdered sugar. A true dessert to die for.
  • Dough:
    • 3/4 cup milk
    • 3 tbsp butter
    • 3/4 cups flour
    • 3 eggs
    • dash of salt
  • Whipped cream: heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

Monte Cristo sandwiches
Sinful, deep-fried and delicious. The Holidays are a good excuse to indulge without remorse! My brother made these as appetizers for Christmas dinner.
  • white bread
  • turkey
  • blackberry preserves
  • Gouda cheese
  • milk
  • vegetable oil
  • butter

"Christmas" Apple Pie
This is the generic apple pie recipe I always use, but in my house we use cookie cutters to stamp out Christmas trees and stars on the pie crust to make it festive.
  • Filling:
    • 4 large apples
    • 2 pears
    • cinnamon, sugar, flour, (lemon juice optional)
  • Pie crust:
    • Trader Joe's pie crust  (You can make your own, but with all the running around during the Holidays who really has the time?
